Ancaster Fair Ambassador Program

The Ancaster fair Ambassador has been a tradition of the Ancaster Fair for over 36 years. These young people between the ages of 18 and 25 represent the Society at many events during the year. Some of these events include Heritage days, Lynden Canada Day, Dundas Cactus Festival and of course the Ancaster Fair. The Ambassador also expected to attend the O.A.A.S. convention in February at the Royal York in Toronto, and enters the CNE Ambassador of the Fairs Competition. There is also a seat on the Ancaster Agricultural Society’s Board of Directors for the Ambassador.

The ambassador is selected in October of each year at our Annual Appreciation Night. The Competition is open to both males and females. Contestants do a 2- 3 minute speech about a pre selected topic (relating to the fair and/or agriculture), and answer a randomly picked question. Contestants are judged on their ease of communication at a microphone, knowledge of the fair and its activities and their familiarity with the community. The Ancaster Agricultural Society offers a $500 Canada Savings Bond to the ambassador as well as prizes donated by local business. To apply to become the next Ancaster Fair Ambassador please send your resume to the Ancaster Fair office and the committee chairman will be in touch with you.

The Ambassador program is an excellent opportunity to develop resume and life skills such as public speaking, publicity and networking. The ambassador gets the change to meet new people from across the province and develop new skills.

If you are between the ages of 18 and 25 and are interested in becoming the next Ancaster Fair Ambassador, please call or email the AAS Office. You will need to submit your resume and prepare answers to the following questions (max ½ a page per answer):

What does the Ancaster Fair mean to you?

What do you see as the Ambassador’s role in the Ancaster Agricultural Society?

Submissions will be received until October 14, 2011. The Ambassador program will be part of the AAS Appreciation Night on Friday October 28, 2011.

Celebrating our 161st Year - All Roads Lead to the Ancaster Fair
